Tilen Sepic installs a kinetic light and sound sculpture in the cloister of the Michaeliskirche. It consists of several light balls that hang on very long cables and rotate very slowly around an imaginary axis. Color light systems are installed in each sphere, each of which produces two complementary colors that emit white light when viewed together. Suspended from the high tree in the middle of the green space, the three light globes float freely in the room, set in motion by small motors. Thus, three conical pendulums are created in spatial proximity, which do not touch each other, but depending on the point of view, their paths seem to cross. The result is a visual tension that makes the technical arrangement tangible as an aesthetic phenomenon.
Tilen Sepič is a multidisciplinary designer, new media artist and promoter of “open source” culture. His experience with light is manifesting in light-design objects, iot design, product photography and sound-light installations. Currently he is developing a practice on research and development of his own products in fields of light design and sound-light installations.
