Hi2025 - RE[ ́RU:]TING HILDESHEIM | Photographer Sara Foerster & Lars Griebner
The red thread, which tells stories from Hildesheim's 1000-year history, in the bid book for the application to become European Capital of Culture 2025 becomes a route on the pavement of Hindenburgplatz. In keeping with the motto of the bid, RE[ ́RU:]TING HILDESHEIM, everyone is invited to position themselves on and in the route on less sightly place in the city centre to narrate the future of Hildesheim.
The design of the work is by Moritz Richartz of Xenorama. Xenorama staged the ceiling of the St. Andrew's Church at the last EVI LICHTUNGEN.
The city's centrally located square, where mainly an administration building, a hotel and currently an abandoned post office are located, is lined by two large streets leading into the city from the north and east. The optical centre is a rose fountain donated by the Harzwasserwerke in 1978 on the occasion of their 50th anniversary. The stylized rose made of concrete is supposed to symbolize the thousand-year-old rose tree.
