Light Construction
Die Installation »Light Construction« bespielt die in Hildesheims Altstadt gelegene Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche. Im hellen Chorraum der Kirche bilden vier aufeinandergesetzte verspiegelte Würfel eine Skulptur, in deren Hohlraum sich eine Glühbirne hinab senkt. Es entsteht eine unendliche Lichtbrechung, die den gesamten Raum und das Publikum in unzählige symmetrische Muster taucht. Die Lichtreflexe scheinen dabei die Wände in einem verwirrenden Perspektivenspiel zurückzudrängen und selbst Form anzunehmen. Die mit Sound unterlegte Installation ist ein Dialog des Materiellen mit dem Immateriellen, indem die Skulptur durch die geometrische Erscheinung des Lichts transzendiert wird.

In the bright choir room of the church an incandescent light bulb descends into the hollow space of four mirrored cubes, placed on top of each other, which form a reflective sculpture. Countless symmetrical patterns emanate from the cube’s infinite light refractions, dousing the entire room including the audience in swathes of light baths. Their reflections appear to alter the walls in a disorienting play of perspectives and take on new forms. Accompanied by specifically composed atmospheric sound, the installation juxtaposes the material with the immaterial. The tangible material of the sculpture is transcended by the geometric appearance of light.

Hinter dem Akronym A.I.L.O (Atelier d’Immersion Lumineuse et Obscure) verbirgt sich die französische Künstlerin Anna-Eva Berge (*1981), die Gründerin des Kollektivs ist. Nach einer Schauspielkarriere widmet sie sich seit 2005 dem Wechselspiel von Licht und Dunkelheit. In ihren raumgreifenden Installationen und Skulpturen arbeitet sie vorwiegend mit reflektierenden Materialien wie Stahl und Spiegeln. Auch die Bewegungen des Publikums haben einen direkten Einfluss auf das Geschehen und sind integraler Teil ihrer Arbeit. Ausstellungen?
Behind the acronym A.I.L.O (Atelier d’Immersion Lumineuse et Obscure) is the French artist Anna-Eva Berge (b. 1981), who is the founder of the collective. Following an acting career, she has devoted herself to the interplay of light and darkness since 2005. She works primarily with reflective materials, such as steel and mirrors, in her expansive installations and sculptures. The motions of the audience are an integral part of her work, influencing her performative installations directly.
