CHOR
»CHOR« ist eine interdisziplinäre Lichtinstallation, die aus einer Sammlung ausrangierter Haushaltsgeräte besteht. Kühlschränke, Waschmaschinen, Geschirrspüler und Mikrowellen sind zu einer fünf Meter hohen Skulptur aufeinander getürmt. Einige der Geräte wurden dem Künstler zum Teil zuvor von Hildesheimer:innen zur Verfügung gestellt. So ist hier auch ein Teil der Stadtgesellschaft verbaut worden. Eingebettet in eine Soundcollage aus den allzu vertrauten und alltäglichen Geräuschen der Maschinen, nutzt die Arbeit Objekte als Archive und lässt sie zu Orten der Erinnerung werden. Mitten im Knotenpunkt der Innenstadt erzählen sie ihre Geschichten von Gebrauch und Verfall, Energie und Ressourcen.
»CHOR« is an interdisciplinary light installation consisting of a collection of discarded household appliances. Refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers and microwaves are piled on top of each other to form a five-metre-high sculpture. Some of the appliances were previously donated to the artist by residents of Hildesheim. In this way, a part of the city’s society has also been incorporated here. Embedded in a sound collage of the all-too-familiar and everyday sounds of the machines, the work uses objects as archives and turns them into places of remembrance. In the middle of the city centre hub, they tell their stories of use and decay, energy and resources.
Bahzad Sulaiman (*1991) ist ein in Rmelan, Syrien geborener kurdischer Künstler und lebt seit 2016 in Deutschland. Seine interdisziplinären Arbeiten befinden sich an der Schnittstelle von Performance, Bildender Kunst und Musiktheater. Mit Hilfe verschiedener Medien erforscht er die Komplexität drängender sozialer und politischer Fragen, wie etwa die Beziehungen zwischen Räumen und Identitäten, Transformation und Nachhaltigkeit, Klimawandel und Ressourcen. Seine Werke wurden weltweit ausgestellt, zuletzt in der Kunsthalle Mannheim und auf dem LUNA Light Art Festival in den Niederlanden.
Bahzad Sulaiman (b. 1991) is a Kurdish artist born in Rmelan, Syria and has lived in Germany since 2016. His interdisciplinary works are located at the interface of performance, visual arts and music theatre. Using various media, he explores the complexity of pressing social and political issues, such as the relationships between spaces and identities, transformation and sustainability, climate change and resources. His works have been exhibited worldwide, most recently at the Kunsthalle Mannheim and at the LUNA Light Art Festival in the Netherlands.
