Tentakulum
Unter unseren Straßen existiert ein Paralleluniversum, ein Geflecht aus Kanälen und Rohren, ein System, das durch seine Unsichtbarkeit im Untergrund wenig in unserem Bewusstsein Platz hat, ein Kosmos, dem wir hier ein bisschen Aufmerksamkeit schenken möchten. Auf poetische Art wird das Wesen des Wassers und Abwassers als Teil eines Kreislaufs sichtbar gemacht: Fließen und Transportieren, Ansaugen und Ausspucken, Strudeln, Gluckern, Tropfen, Verstopfen, tragend Treiben und untergehend Verschlucken, Anstauen und Bahnbrechen, Reinigen und Verunreinigen, Überfluten und Versickern. Die Bodenprojektion als Blick unter das Pflaster des Angoulêmeplatzes lädt zum Verweilen, Fantasieren und sich treiben lassen ein.
A parallel universe exists beneath our streets, a network of canals and pipes, a system that has little place in our consciousness due to its invisibility underground, a cosmos to which we would like to pay a little attention here. The essence of water and wastewater as part of a cycle is visualized in a poetic way: flowing and transporting, sucking in and spitting out, swirling, gurgling, dripping, clogging, carrying drifting and sinking swallowing, damming and breaking, cleaning and contaminating, flooding and seeping away.the floor projection as a view under the pavement of Angoulêmeplatz invites you to linger, fantasize and let yourself drift.
TENTAKULUM ist ein kollektiv-kreativer Organismus um Katharina Berndt, Tom Groll und Kuno Seltmann. Projektspezifisch kooperieren sie mit verschiedenen Musiker:innen, um Blick- und Hörweisen zu bündeln und zu Medienkunst zu verweben, die sich mit Geflechten und Strukturen im Spannungsfeld zwischen Natur und Gesellschaft beschäftigt. Dabei entstehen Videoprojektionen und materielle Installationen, die vorwiegend mit dem Medium Licht spielen.
Katharina Berndt, der Kopf des „Kanalisations-Tentakulums“ lebt auf einem Segelschiff auf der Bremer Weser. Während der Entstehung dieser Videoinstallation hat sie die Sturmflut und Hochwassermassen um ihre Wohn- und Wirkungsstätte eingefangen, um die Parallelen zwischen den Abwasserströmen unter den Häusern der Stadt und dem fließenden Strom unter ihrem Schiffsboden zu studieren. Schon seit ihrem Studium an der Muthesius Kunsthochschule Kiel an der Ostsee sammelt sie Wasserspiegelungen als visuelle Musik. Gemeinsam mit Claudius Carstens, der die Bilder akustisch untermalt, verwandeln sie den Angoulêmeplatz nun für vier Nächte in ein rauschend waberndes Feuchtbiotop.
TENTAKULUM is a collective-creative organism centred around Katharina Berndt, Tom Groll and Kuno Seltmann. They co-operate with various musicians on a project-specific basis in order to bundle ways of seeing and hearing and to weave them into media art that deals with networks and structures in the field of tension between nature and society. This results in video projections and material installations that primarily play with the medium of light.
Katharina Berndt is the head of the „Kanalisations-Tentakulum“ and lives on a sailing ship on the Weser in Bremen. During the creation of this video installation, she captured the storm surge and floods around her home and place of work in order to study the parallels between the streams of sewage under the city‘s houses and the flowing current beneath the bottom of her ship. She has been collecting water reflections as visual music since her studies at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts Kiel on the Baltic Sea.
Together with Claudius Carstens, who provides the acoustic accompaniment to the images, they are now transforming Angoulêmeplatz into a surging, swirling wetland biotope for four nights.
